MPD Imager-225: Specifications (July 1999)#

General description: The MultiPhoton Imager-225 is an ultra-low background gamma imager for low-activity distributed ¹²⁵I gamma and ¹³¹I sources. Measurements are performed simultaneously in two modes: standard (faster), and enhanced (slower, but more sensitive).

Components: MPD Imager-225 includes 225 pixels detector unit with a positioning table, a dedicated computer with mouse and keyboard, and a 17" color monitor.

Sample Size: Imaged area up to 20 x 20 cm.

Resolution: Better than 0.5 mm

Sensitivity: 0.15 dpm/pixel (30 zeptomole of ¹²⁵I) in standard mode, and 0.006 dpm/pixel (1.2 zeptomole of ¹²⁵I) in enhanced mode. Similar sensitivity has been achieved for ¹³¹I

Dynamic Range: From 3 attoCi up to at least 5 nCi per pixel: more than 6 orders of magnitude.

Linearity: Better than 5% across the full dynamic range.
Software: Imager 1.0 software running under Windows 3.1 for measurement. Imgview 1.0 software running under Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 for analysis and plotting the data. Biotraces 1.0 wavelet based data processing/image cleaning software, running under Windows 95 or Windows NT.

Power Requirements: 110 V, 60 Hz, grounded outlet. Power consumption 300 W. A surge protector is recommended.

Environmental Requirements: Temperature: 15 to 40° C. Humidity: 10 to 95% non-condensing.
